Collaboration Products

  • TimeWinner is a leadership management application, which provides project managers with an overview of many important factors such as Risks, Issues, Progress, Milestones, Objectives, Decisions and Changes.  These are the parameters required by leaders and are not supported at all by traditional project management support tools, such as those based on bar or Gantt charts.  The application is accessed through a browser making it also very suitable for virtual working environments.
  • TeamViewer and Netviewer are examples of a product category which enables you to gain control of a remote computer,  for example for technical support.  In principle this could be done using a screen sharing application, however this needs to be installed on the computer of the person who wishes to share their desktop. This is not suitable e.g. for clients who have not installed the application and with whom we wish to make quick contact. These products install the required application remotely, so making them suitable for immediate support or contact with anyone, not just registered partners.  By using this key feature in different situations, these applications are also suitable for online meetings, training, webinars and seminars.
  • Tungle.me is a meeting scheduling tool.  It offers clients and colleagues time slots according to your actual availability and confirms by e-mail.  It also supports invitations to partners without them needing to have sign up and meetings for several partners at once.
  • The FlowTeam method “is a set of tools for unleashing the collective intelligence of a work team. This approach enhances group productivity, innovation and problem-solving via efficient, fun teamwork and extraordinarily high morale”.
  • Acrobat.com: Interesting combination of shared workspace, desktop sharing integrated with telephone conferencing, create pdf (useful), file transfer etc.
  • There are dozens of products that provide the infrastructure for Virtual Teamwork. The Central Desktop is typical of many offerings which has Workspaces, Real time Collaboration, online documents & spreadsheets and e-mail driven discussions.
  • Doodle: Select meeting times for meetings with several participants; carry out polls.
  • Goober: Instant Messenger, also offering VoIP (internet telephony), Video Chat, Encrypted Data Transfer, Internet Disk-drive, e-mail etc. You can generate HTML code for inclusion in your web page so that users can mail and telephone you immediately without having to sign up. Telephony and SMS functions available at “competitive rates”.
  • Moodle: Open-source course management system for e-Learning.
  • Personal Brain: Dynamic mindmapping software.
  • Quindi: “Simple software tool for documenting working meetings and better utilizing meeting time, information and decisions”.
  • Wuala: “Securely store and back up files online, access them from anywhere, and share your photos, videos, and music with friends and family.”
  • Yammer: “a corporate social network, discussion board and knowledge base all rolled into one easy-to-use interface.” Similar to Twitter but limited to in-company use.

Project Management

  • Projectplace “is Europe’s Leading Online Service for Project Collaboration”.
  • Basecamp:  Project management assignment and reporting for virtual teams. Based on milestones to which activities are attached, rather than the more traditional bar (Gantt) charts.
  • Blip TV: Free hosting for videos with built-in syndication to MySpace, Facebook, Twitter etc.
  • Cullanos: Teamwork interface including tasks, discussions, messages, storage space, voice etc.
  • EasyProjects: Net based project management tool. Available as Saas or for in-house installation.
  • eGroupware:  Enterprise ready groupware software for company network, which is more secure than internet. Functions include Project Manager, File Manager, Timesheet, Workflow Engine etc.
  • HyperOffice and ProjectSpaces: Online collaboration suites including e-mail, task manager, online document management etc.
  • LumoFlow: Combines social networking with project management and knowledge sharing.
  • OpenProject: Open source alternative to Microsoft Project.  This provider also offers Projects on Demand SaaS project management solution.
  • Project Insight:  Web-based mid-market project management software, aligned with the PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) of the PMI (Project Management Institute).
  • Teamspace:  Groupware for virtual teamwork.  Includes task and project management, scheduling, file and document management etc.
  • UStream:  Allows you to broadcast a live video stream on the internet.
  • VCSonline:  Project management, with emphasis on timesheets and reporting.

Teleconferencing

  • CallBurner is an application for recording Skype to Skype calls.  This can be used for example to record conference calls. It must however be installed by more than one party, or charges apply.
  • FreeConference: Teleconferencing application. Has optional VoIP or telephone for voice channel.
  • Glance: Desktop sharing integrated with voice conferencing via browser.
  • GoToMeeting: Secure meeting environment, participants do not need to load any application but access through browser. Joining a meeting is simple: just click on the link in the e-mail invitation.
  • GoToWebinar: Same supplier and similar technology to GoToMeeting; more suitable for groups over 15 participants.
  • PowWowNow: Telephone (not VoIP) conferencing service with PIN and call in number in several countries.  The advantage is that the caller pays for the call to their local number and no set up is required in advance.  This means that participants can be invited to conference calls and each pays locally for access through their own telephone bill (for callers in the USA there is no cost at all).
  • WebOffice: Teleconferencing application. Includes a database feature so that data can be entered and viewed during conferences. Users do not need to download any applications.
  • Yugma: Teleconferencing application including desktop sharing. A novel feature is the integrated use with Skype for the voice channel, allowing the use of existing Skype settings. Minimum subscription is free, however this application requires java and installation of an application by each user.
  • yuuGuu: Cross network instant messaging, instant screen sharing, real time collaboration, web conferencing and remote support.
